Since the new rules for citizens of Kazakhstan came into effect, three months have passed, and the border service of Kyrgyzstan has announced the end of the preferential period. Now, if Kazakhs stay in the country for more than 90 days without the appropriate documents, they risk receiving a ban on re-entry for several months.

Colonel Melis Pamirov, head of the Department of the Main Border Control Directorate of the State National Security Committee of Kyrgyzstan, noted that although the visa run was canceled in 2023, until September 1, 2025, restrictions for citizens of Kazakhstan were not applied due to a bilateral agreement between the two countries.

Pamirov explained that from September 2025, the "90/180" rule will apply to Kazakhs. Now, if they stay in Kyrgyzstan continuously for more than 90 days without the necessary documents, they will be barred from re-entry for 90 days upon departure.

He also noted that if a Kazakh entered Kyrgyzstan for a short time but later decided to stay longer, he should legalize his status before the 90 days expire.

To stay legally in the country for more than three months, it is necessary to obtain the appropriate documents, such as registration at the place of residence, a residence permit, or a temporary residence permit. Legal grounds also include special statuses such as "Kairylman," "Meken-kart," or "Resident-card."

Fines for Violating Stay Periods

Ulan Kerimkulov, head of the Department for Countering Extremism and Illegal Migration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, reminded about the fines for violating stay periods. For overstaying up to one month, the offender faces a fine of 5,500 soms; for one to three months — 10,000 soms; for three to six months — 17,500 soms; and for more than six months — 20,000 soms.

According to the State Institution "Kyzmat," Kyrgyzstan registers between 500,000 and 600,000 foreign citizens annually, of which Kazakhs make up about 80,000 to 100,000. During the tourist season, the statistics further increase due to guests from Europe and South Korea.
