 Kamchybek Tashiev
Kamchybek Kydyrshaevich Tashiev is a statesman and political figure of the Kyrgyz Republic, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Chairman of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS).


Early life and education

Kamchybek Kydyrshaevich Tashiev was born on September 27, 1968, in the village of Barpy, Jalal-Abad Region of the Kyrgyz Republic.

He obtained higher education after graduating from Tomsk State University and the Kyrgyz National State University.


Professional and managerial career

He began his professional career in entrepreneurship and the agro-industrial sector.

From 1993 to 1995, he served as Director of a production company engaged in agricultural procurement in the Suzak District of the Jalal-Abad Region.

In 1995, he worked as General Director of a production and commercial company.

In 1998, he was appointed Director of the Department of Entrepreneurship and Investment of the Jalal-Abad Regional State Administration.

From 2000 to 2002, he served as Chairman of the Board of an agricultural cooperative.


Service in government bodies

From 2002 to 2003, he worked as Assistant to the Head of the Government Office of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Between 2003 and 2005, he held the positions of First Deputy Akim and Deputy Akim of the Leninsky District of Bishkek.


Political career

From 2005 to 2007, he was a member of the Jogorku Kenesh (Parliament) of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Between 2007 and 2009, he served as Minister of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic.

From 2008 to 2009, he was a member of the Security Council of the Kyrgyz Republic and Chairman of the CSTO Coordination Council on Emergency Situations.

From 2010 to 2013, he was again elected as a member of the Jogorku Kenesh.

Between 2012 and 2013, he was a member of the Parliamentary Committee on Economic Development.


High-profile events

On October 3, 2012, during a rally on the nationalization of the Kumtor gold mine, Kamchybek Tashiev attempted to climb over the fence of the Government House (the “White House”).

Protesters under his leadership, along with MP Sadyr Japarov and Vice Speaker Talant Mamytov, attempted to enter the government building. Law enforcement agencies suppressed the unrest.

The participants were convicted on charges of attempting to seize power by force. Later, the Supreme Court of the Kyrgyz Republic stated that they had fully served their sentences while being held in pre-trial detention.


Elections and party activity

In 2015, during parliamentary elections, the Central Election Commission removed Kamchybek Tashiev from the race following an incident in the Suzak District involving an assault on a representative of the “Onuguu–Progress” party.

In 2020, he ran for parliament as a candidate from the political party “Mekenchil.”


National security service

Following the political events of October 5–6, 2020, he was appointed Chairman of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Since October 2021, he has served as Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Head of the SCNS.


Public and sports activities

On February 19, 2024, Kamchybek Tashiev was elected President of the Kyrgyz Football Union as the sole candidate.

He holds the rank of State Advisor of the Kyrgyz Republic, Second Class.

He is Vice President of the Boxing Federation of the Kyrgyz Republic.


Awards and titles

In 2022, Kamchybek Tashiev was awarded the highest state title, “Hero of the Kyrgyz Republic,” and received the special insignia “Ak Shumkar.”


Personal life

Kamchybek Tashiev is married and has four children.
