At a meeting of the Agricultural Policy Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh, Deputy Gulsharkan Kultaeva raised the issue concerning saplings that entrepreneurs imported from third countries before the ban on their import was enacted.
Since March 1 of this year, a six-month ban has been in effect, and businesspeople have questions regarding the future of the already delivered planting material. Kultaeva noted that many entrepreneurs have approached her for clarification on what to do with the saplings that are already in the country or at customs.

“What should entrepreneurs do if the sale of saplings is prohibited? Is there a possibility to export them to other countries?” she inquired.
According to the deputy, this concerns high-quality varieties of fruit crops that are in demand in the international market. If the saplings remain in warehouses or at customs for too long, they may spoil, leading to losses for the business.

In response, Deputy Minister of Agriculture Mirbek Duyshiev stated that the ministry is aware of the situation that has arisen. He clarified that during the preparation of the draft resolution, warnings about the upcoming restrictions were sent to importers.

Duyshiev also noted that changes in transportation logistics and delays on routes related to shipments through Iran have caused some deliveries to arrive later than planned. He added that the Ministry of Agriculture has already sent a letter to the customs authorities and will further consider the conditions of the resolution to find possible solutions to the problem that has arisen.
