At the meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh Committee on Agricultural Policy on March 16, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision Almaz Musaev reported that the forest lands of Kyrgyzstan cover about 1.2 million hectares, which is equivalent to 6.5% of the total area of the country.

Deputy Mahabat Mavlyanova emphasized the importance of forest development not only as a natural resource but also as sites for tourism and recreation, citing the positive experiences of other countries. She noted that it is necessary to create conditions that promote a comfortable stay for visitors.

In response, the deputy minister pointed out that when organizing recreational use of forests, it is essential to consider the need to maintain a balance between their protection and public access.

In his opinion, simple prohibitions will not solve the problem, and it is important to raise the culture of outdoor recreation. In particular, visitors should leave their cars in parking areas at the entrance to the forest and follow other rules to minimize environmental damage.
