According to the heads of driving schools, the State Center for Vehicle Registration and Driver Licensing has sent out notifications that starting from January 1, 2026, the enrollment of new students for driver training will be halted.

Representatives of the association expressed their support for the president's initiative but urged to postpone the implementation of the new regulations until September of next year and proposed a phased transition to a 14-month training program.
Association members also requested the government to include them in the working group responsible for developing new rules.

Furthermore, driving schools warned that due to the extended training period, course prices will increase.

Currently, the average cost of training in Bishkek is 25,000 soms for category B and approximately 30,000 soms for categories B-C. After the new regulations are implemented, the training price will rise to 135,000 soms for the first category and up to 190,000 soms for the second.

It is noted that there are 346 licensed driving schools operating in Kyrgyzstan.
