Representatives of the driving schools emphasized that the State Center for Vehicle Registration and Driver Licensing has already sent out notifications that the recruitment of new trainees will cease from January 1, 2026.
In their statement, the driving schools expressed support for the president's initiative but insist that the implementation of the new regulations be postponed until September 2026. They also propose to implement the transition to a 14-month training program in several stages.
The Association also requested to include their representatives in the working group that will develop the new regulations.
The issue of rising training costs due to the extension of the training process has not gone unnoticed. Currently, in Bishkek, the average cost of training is 25,000 soms for category B and about 30,000 soms for category B-C. After the introduction of the new standards, the cost will rise to 135,000 and 190,000 soms, respectively.
In total, there are 346 licensed driving schools operating in Kyrgyzstan.
Earlier, the Ministry of Education presented for public discussion a draft order "On the Approval of State Educational Standards for Initial Vocational Education for Training Drivers of Categories 'B' and 'C'."
The main goals of this project include:
- establishing minimum requirements for the structure and content of educational programs;
- ensuring a unified approach to driver training in various educational institutions;
- aligning educational standards with the current requirements of the labor market and professional standards.
