Sedentary work and poor nutrition: a doctor explains what worsens the health of Kyrgyzstanis

During festive events, many people tend to overeat, often including fatty dishes, salads with mayonnaise, and alcohol. This combination can negatively impact health, and as noted by the head of the gastroenterology department at the Mirrahimov National Center for Cardiology and Therapy, the chief freelance gastroenterologist of the Ministry of Health, Mamiraim Jumbaev, in an interview on Birinchi Radio, it is important to maintain moderation in eating and increase the consumption of vegetables and fruits.
According to the doctor, after the holidays, hospitals often receive patients with complaints related to overeating and alcohol consumption.
Jumbaev also pointed out that in recent years, statistics on morbidity in Kyrgyzstan consistently show two types of diseases: functional disorders of the gastrointestinal tract, accounting for about 75%, and organic pathologies — approximately 25%.
The causes of most problems are lifestyle and nutrition. Unfortunately, physical activity has noticeably decreased, which is associated with sedentary work in offices and a sedentary lifestyle at home. These factors contribute to the deterioration of health.
Functional disorders are not accompanied by serious pathological changes and most often arise precisely due to lifestyle. Organic diseases that patients seek help for can be divided into three main groups: diseases of the stomach and duodenum (acid-dependent diseases), liver and biliary tract pathologies, and intestinal disorders.
Additionally, Jumbaev provided statistics indicating that stomach cancer in Kyrgyzstan has become the most common among both men and women. Previously, it ranked first among men and third among women, but this situation has now changed.
The specialist also highlighted the issue of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, which affects nearly one in three people worldwide, and Kyrgyzstan is no exception. Given the level of physical activity and dietary habits, he warned that in 10 years, liver diseases could become widespread.
