The changes made concern Article 232(1), which is now titled “Hunting, intentional destruction, as well as illegal acquisition, storage, transfer, or sale of the snow leopard (Central Asian leopard).” Previously, this article was titled “Hunting and intentional destruction of the snow leopard.”
According to the new version, fines for the specified actions range from 1200 to 1800 calculation indicators, or punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to three years. In the previous version of the article, fines ranged from 800 to 1200 indicators, and corrective labor for up to two years or imprisonment for three years was also provided.
If someone commits these acts again, they face a fine of 2000 to 3000 calculation indicators (previously from 1500 to 2000) or imprisonment for a term of four to eight years (in the previous version - from three to five years), with the possibility of a ban on holding certain positions or engaging in certain activities for up to five years.
In addition, Article 236, dedicated to “Violations of the regime of specially protected natural areas and objects,” has been amended to include a provision that in the case of causing damage on a particularly large scale, the fine will be 500 indicators (previously - 300).
