President Donald Trump, in his letter to Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, published by PBS journalist Nick Schifrin on social media platform X, stated that he will no longer worry about global issues. This statement was made in the context of him not being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.

Trump expressed the opinion that he should have received this award for preventing numerous conflicts, including more than eight wars. He noted that the absence of the prize frees him from obligations to the global community.

Additionally, in the letter, he emphasized that the security of the world depends on whether the U.S. will control Greenland. According to Trump, Denmark is unable to protect the island from threats posed by Russia and China. He also added that he has done a lot for NATO, and now the alliance should act in the interests of the United States.

The 2025 Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado in early December. In January, she presented the award to Trump; however, the Norwegian Nobel Committee noted that the prize cannot be transferred and remains solely associated with the laureate. Trump has repeatedly emphasized that he considers himself deserving of this award for his efforts in the field of peace.
