The land plot allocated for the university has been built up with residential buildings and fast-food establishments.
An investigation into the case of money laundering has been initiated at the S. Mambetkaliev Chui University, according to information from the GKNB press center.
The special services commented on reports that appeared on social media.
In 1994, a land plot of 1.10 hectares was allocated for the creation of an educational institution – the republican higher college, now known as the S. Mambetkaliev Chui University, located on Suymbaeva-Osmonkula Street in Bishkek (formerly Karpinsky and Naberezhnaya).
After the death of S. Mambetkaliev, the university was effectively headed by his daughter Cholpon Mambetkalieva. However, over more than three decades, instead of developing the educational system, the administration sold the specified land plot, dividing it into several plots and changing their designation.
Two of the sold plots were built with apartment buildings, while the remaining territory is being used improperly and is rented out for fast-food outlets.
It is worth noting that part of the university's land was transferred to private ownership, on which a luxurious two-story house was built, where the rector's family – Cholpon Mambetkalieva – resides.
The use of state property for personal gain was facilitated by the patronage of controlling bodies, which allowed the Mambetkaliev family to illegally enrich themselves, turning the educational institution into a source of personal profit,” stated the GKNB.
The current investigation aims to identify facts of misappropriation of illegally withdrawn property and its return to state ownership in accordance with the law.
Additionally, the special service reported plans to check the educational process at the university, which, according to documents, has about 800 students, although the actual number is significantly lower. This leads to a situation where diplomas are issued to individuals who do not attend classes and exams.
“The Ministry of Science, Higher Education and Innovation is engaged in redistributing students to other colleges and universities,” the GKNB added.
