The investigation established that S. U. E. used personal connections with President Sadyr Japarov and GKNB head Kamchybek Tashiev to illegally acquire vehicles: a 2022 Toyota Tundra valued at $65,000 and a 2011 Mercedes-Benz A-Class estimated at $15,000.
When the victims demanded the return of the cars, the suspect began to threaten them, citing his connections with the country's top leadership, and refused to return them.
“In addition, during meetings, he claimed to have the ability to resolve various issues, showing family photos with the country's leadership,” the official statement said.
A case has been initiated under Article 209 ("Fraud") of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic. On December 26, S. U. E. was detained in Cholpon-Ata and placed in the temporary detention facility of the GKNB.
An investigation is currently underway.
