According to law enforcement, in 2023, two individuals — S. A. and J. R. — imported a Lexus RX 330 from Japan, declaring the vehicle as spare parts. For subsequent illegal registration and sale, they acquired a registration certificate for a damaged vehicle of the same model, owned by N. I., and also forged notarial documents.
According to the police, in collusion with an employee of the state enterprise "Unaa," J. B., the suspects presented fake documents. As a result, for a bribe of $1,100, changes were made to the database, including the substitution of VIN codes. Consequently, the vehicle was illegally registered and sold to an unsuspecting buyer for $7,000.
The Department of Internal Affairs also reported a scheme to evade customs duties, which has caused damage to the state, the extent of which is currently being determined.
