In Suzak, a man was sent to prison for failing to pay alimony

In the Jalal-Abad region, a verdict was issued against a debtor who evaded alimony payments. The bailiff service reported that he received a 1-year prison sentence.

The Suzak district department was handling the case of A.L.A., for whom enforcement proceedings were initiated to collect alimony for the support of his child, in favor of M.M.M.

During the enforcement procedures, it was established that A.L.A. had been evading his alimony obligations for a long time. As a result, the case materials were forwarded to law enforcement agencies to address the issue of holding him accountable under Article 178 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.

On March 11, the Suzak district court found A.L.A. guilty under part 2 of Article 178 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic and sentenced him to one year of imprisonment.

Part 2 of Article 178. Evasion by parents from fulfilling a court decision regarding payments for the support of a child or disabled children, with arrears exceeding 12 months, is punishable by corrective labor for a term of one to three years, a fine from 500 to 1000 calculated indicators, or imprisonment for up to three years.
