In Kyrgyzstan, the scientific potential of the country includes 82 scientific and scientific-technical organizations, where more than 6,500 specialists with academic degrees work. This was reported by the Prime Minister Adylbek Kasymaliev in his congratulatory message on the Day of Science.

He noted that since the establishment of scientific institutes and universities, Kyrgyz scientists have achieved significant results.

Kasymaliev emphasized: “We are proud that our medical professionals perform surgeries at world-class standards. In addition, Kyrgyz researchers have contributed to space research by developing mechanisms for drilling lunar soil. There were also difficult times when science took a back seat. However, in recent years, the country's economy has undergone significant changes: budget revenues are increasing, new enterprises and infrastructure facilities are being built, and conditions have been created for raising salaries in the public sector. With the improvement of the economic situation, science is also beginning to receive more support — salaries for employees of scientific institutions are rising and the material and technical conditions are improving,” he noted.

The head of the cabinet added that scientific research now covers many relevant topics.

These include: the development of the energy sector until 2035, issues of the state language, sustainable development of mountainous regions, production and processing of medicinal plants, restoration of forest areas, production of basalt fiber, as well as adaptation to climate change and other areas.
Within the framework of state orders, work is being carried out on seismic zoning, research of archaeological sites, studying the genetics of agricultural animals, processing waste from the mining industry, restoring fish resources of Lake Issyk-Kul, optimizing farm resources, and producing high-voltage porcelain ceramics, as well as assessing the water-energy resources of river systems.

Currently, the priority areas of scientific activity include the study of the history of Kyrgyzstan and the Kyrgyz language, agronomy and biosecurity, green economy, healthcare, climate change, energy, post-industrial development, and digital transformation.

“We were once a country dominated by industrial and agricultural sectors; however, industry has gone through difficult times, and now we are witnessing its revival. Digitalization is also developing rapidly, and we are becoming an example for neighboring countries. I am confident that you, esteemed scientists, will make a significant contribution to these areas. Special attention should be paid to economic research in the field of import substitution, export stimulation, and organizing economic intelligence,” concluded Adylbek Kasymaliev.
