The GKNB reported how many marriages have been registered in Kyrgyzstan with citizens of China

The State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan (GKNB) shared figures on the number of registered marriages between citizens of Kyrgyzstan and China.

This information was provided in response to growing rumors on social media about mass marriages between representatives of the two countries, which were deemed unfounded.

According to GKNB data, from 2020 to the present, a total of 129 marriages involving citizens of the People's Republic of China have been registered in the country. Notably, many of these unions are formed between members of ethnic groups, such as Uighurs and Dungans, who are creating families with compatriots from China.

"Of the total number of marriages, 44 were concluded between representatives of the titular nation and Chinese (Han) citizens. Most of them subsequently moved to China for permanent residence," the GKNB clarified.

Additionally, the committee noted that such marital ties do not have a significant impact on the demographic situation in Kyrgyzstan.

The GKNB also warned citizens against possible criminal liability for inciting racial, ethnic, or religious hatred in the context of discussing this issue.
