The collaboration between UNDP in Kyrgyzstan and the Nature Foundation, supported by the Ministry of Natural Resources, led to the organization of a field expedition to a Key Ornithological Area located near the capital, Bishkek. This site is considered one of the key areas for biodiversity in the country.

Diplomats from France and Turkey, as well as representatives from the Chinese embassy and the World Bank, participated in this trip. During several hours of observation, experts were able to register about 40 bird species, including the white-tailed eagle — the only recorded instance of its nesting in Kyrgyzstan.

Scientists note that this area plays a significant role in the Central Asian migratory route; however, it faces numerous threats, including urban development, environmental pollution, poaching, and habitat changes.

As a result of the expedition, specialists emphasized the need to strengthen the protection of this area and to apply nature-based solutions in urban planning.
