Public hearings will be held in Bishkek over two days, dedicated to the project of a new general plan for the city until 2050. This document, developed by experts from the St. Petersburg Research Institute of Urban Development, has generated significant interest and discussion among residents.

Today, the hearings cover the Oktyabrsky and Sverdlovsky districts, while similar events previously took place in the Leninsky and Pervomaysky districts. More than 400 people are participating in these discussions, including Vice Mayor Azamat Kadyrbekov and the leadership of "Bishkekglavarchitectura".

Experts presented alarming data about the state of the city: 1 million 321 thousand people live in an area of 41 thousand hectares. Meanwhile, the social infrastructure significantly lags behind the needs of the population:
Irina Grishchenkina, one of the specialists, noted that Bishkek is losing its cultural heritage: out of 300 sites, half have already been lost. Additionally, the development of the southern part of the city is hindered by a tectonic fault, and the lack of state land creates obstacles for the construction of new social facilities.

The new general plan envisions an increase in green spaces, especially in the water protection zones along the coast. The development of the city's tourism potential is also planned. Despite Bishkek's status as a distribution center, the flow of tourists is only 300 thousand people, indicating the need to expand the hotel and health resort infrastructure.

Public discussions are ongoing, and the authorities are taking citizens' suggestions into account to adjust the final version of the document.
