At the public discussion of the new general plan held on December 24, Irina Grishechkina, a representative of the group of developers from the St. Petersburg Research Institute, reported that the central area of Bishkek will feature mid-rise construction. The new plan includes height restrictions for buildings.

One resident of the capital asked about the proposed number of floors for new buildings, considering previous statements from the authorities about the need for vertical growth in the city.

Grishechkina clarified that already existing or planned high-rise buildings will remain as they are, but in the future, the height of new structures in the central part of the city should not exceed 8 floors.

“The central part of the city will be mid-rise. All already constructed multi-story buildings and projects that are in the implementation stage will be preserved. We did not plan to build super-tall buildings in the center, although large investment projects may be realized in other areas of the city,” she added.

Grishechkina also noted the high investment activity in Bishkek and identified areas where there are no height restrictions. Nevertheless, the central part of the capital will remain mid-rise with a height of no more than 8 floors.
