On the official government website, it is reported that the meeting was held to discuss a strategic document that outlines the long-term directions for the socio-economic and territorial development of the capital. Kasymaliev emphasized that the high public interest in this project highlights the need for comprehensive discussion and consideration of proposals, as well as analysis of potential risks.
The head of the Cabinet of Ministers noted that the quality of the General Plan directly affects the comfort and safety of the citizens, the sustainable development of the city, and its attractiveness to investors. It is important to preserve green spaces and historical and cultural heritage while ensuring ecological safety.
Additionally, during the meeting, it was noted that as a result of the administrative-territorial reform conducted in 2024, the area of the city increased by 25,707.3 hectares, now totaling 41,032.67 hectares. The population has grown by 132,380 people, reaching about 1.3 million; however, the actual figures may be higher due to active urbanization processes.
Systemic problems faced by Bishkek, such as road network congestion, lack of green areas, and significant wear of communal infrastructure, were also discussed. These factors negatively affect the quality of the urban environment and the comfort level for residents.
The city's mayor, Aibek Junushaliev, added that the General Plan project was presented for public discussion in October 2025. During this period, more than 300 comments and suggestions were received, which will be taken into account in the further refinement of the document.
Specialists from the Research Institute of Prospective Urban Development in St. Petersburg, who developed the project, presented an analysis of the current state of the city, demographic trends, and key development directions up to 2050, including issues related to transport, social, and engineering infrastructure.
As a result of the meeting, the importance of further work on the General Plan, considering all received proposals, as well as the need for phased and balanced implementation of the project, was emphasized.
