The Chief of Staff of the President, Kanibek Tumanbaev, conducted an unscheduled inspection at the State Institution "Unaa," where he familiarized himself with the current activities of the organization.
According to the press service, the inspection covered the monitoring of the processes of registration and re-registration of vehicles, as well as the issuance and replacement of driver's licenses. Attention was also paid to the organization of services provided to citizens, including compliance with safety measures.
Tumanbaev pointed out the problem of old indefinite driver's licenses, which contain photographs taken 20–30 years ago. This creates difficulties in identifying individuals, and these documents have insufficient protection and can be forged, posing a security threat. Moreover, such licenses are not recognized abroad as legal.
In light of the above, it was emphasized that strict standards must be adhered to, and documents should meet modern requirements.
The Chief of Staff instructed to develop digitalization in the area of issuing driver's licenses and vehicle registration, expanding available digital services and updating information.
According to the department's data, from January 15 to 21, 2026, the following were registered:
- online — 46,431 applications,
- offline — 32,528 applications.
As a result of the inspection, a conclusion was made about the necessity to improve the procedure for providing public services, enhance security levels, and systematically implement digital solutions.
