The initiators emphasize that the project will improve transportation links with neighboring countries.
At a recent meeting of the Committee on Industrial Policy, Transport, and Other Important Aspects, a draft law concerning the construction of a bridge over the Naryn River on the Bishkek–Osh highway was discussed.
Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Ulukbek Zhanibekov presented information about the project, which aims to improve Kyrgyzstan's transport infrastructure and its connections with neighboring countries.
"The construction of the bridge is planned in the Toktogul district of the Jalal-Abad region at the 315th kilometer of the Bishkek–Osh highway. The Japanese government will provide a grant of 3.39 billion Japanese yen (approximately 20.4 million US dollars) for the implementation of this project," Zhanibekov noted.
Also on the agenda was the draft law "On the Ratification of the Financing Agreement between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Eurasian Development Bank" for the project "Improvement of Roads in the City of Osh," which was reviewed in the first reading.
According to Ulukbek Zhanibekov, there is a serious problem with traffic congestion in the city of Osh. In this regard, special studies have been conducted, and the possibility of opening a new road on Babraimov Street, connecting Tursunbaev Street with the new market, is currently being discussed.
According to the discussed draft law, it is planned to construct two overpass bridges in Osh with a total length of 3.2 kilometers.
The total cost of the project will be 19.2 million US dollars, of which 14.15 million dollars will be a loan from the Eurasian Development Bank, 1.2 million dollars will be a grant, and the remaining 3.9 million dollars will be allocated from the republican budget.
Committee members supported the proposed draft laws following the discussions.
