This document was signed between Kyrgyzstan, the International Development Association, and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
The Deputy Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry reported that Kyrgyzstan will receive a loan of $30 million, as well as a grant of $1.79 million under this project.
The loan will be issued for a term of 50 years with a 10-year grace period and no interest charges. It must be repaid by December 15, 2074.
He also emphasized that the first phase of the project includes three main areas of work.
- Combating zoonotic infections: this includes improving disease monitoring among animals, developing effective methods for diagnosis and treatment, as well as raising awareness of the risks of transmission of infections from animals to humans.
- Preventing antibiotic resistance: it is planned to ensure the rational use of antibiotics in medicine and veterinary medicine, develop alternative treatment methods, and prevent the spread of antibiotic-resistant bacteria.
- Ensuring food safety: it is necessary to improve sanitary conditions at all stages of production and processing, as well as strengthen quality control of products.
