95th anniversary of Turdakun Usubaliev. Opening of the book exhibition at the National Library

Since October 14, 2014, a book exhibition titled “A State Figure Who Became a True Legend” has been presented in the hall of rare and particularly valuable publications of the National Library of the Kyrgyz Republic, dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the birth of public and state figure Turdakun Usubaliev.

T. Usubaliev was born in 1919 in the village of Kochkor, Kochkor district. From 1961, he served as the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Kyrgyzstan. From 1959 to 1985, he was a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Kyrgyzstan, and from 1961 to 1985, a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union.

T. Usubaliev was a wise and far-sighted politician, a person who thought on a state scale. Leading the Communist Party of Kyrgyzstan and the state for a quarter of a century, he was the organizer of many major projects: the construction of the Naryn hydro cascade, the Manas airport, the Koyomkul Sports Palace, the Cardiology Center, the Uchkun publishing and editorial complex, national philharmonics and libraries, museums of fine arts and history, and the sanatoriums “Issyk-Kul” and “Kyrgyz Riviera.” During his leadership, the country saw the development of industrial and housing construction, and new modern industries emerged – machine engineering, non-ferrous metallurgy, instrument engineering, electronics, and hydroenergy. In 1985, enterprises in Kyrgyzstan produced over 4,000 types of industrial products. Under T. Usubaliev's leadership, the republic became one of the economically developed regions of the former USSR, and much was done for the development of science and culture in Kyrgyzstan.

A person with extraordinary analytical and journalistic abilities, T. Usubaliev always sought to optimally combine extensive organizational activities with meticulous work on books, brochures, and journalistic articles. As a convinced and consistent internationalist, he published several books on this topic. His books contain a wealth of reference material, facts, figures, and generalizations obtained through deep analysis.

For many years, T. Usubaliev was elected as a deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the Kyrgyz SSR and the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic. He was awarded 4 Orders of Lenin, the Order of the October Revolution, the Order of the Red Banner of Labor, the Order of Friendship of Peoples, and the “Manas” award. T. Usubaliev is a Hero of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Despite his advanced age, Turdakun Usubalievich Usubaliev actively participates in the socio-political life of the republic, sharing his knowledge and rich experience, doing everything in his power to improve the lives of Kyrgyz citizens.

The exhibition features books and articles by T. Usubaliev, as well as newspaper and magazine articles reflecting his life path.
