The Ministry of Emergency Situations has launched a project to enhance readiness for recovery after natural disasters.

A meeting took place at the Ministry of Emergency Situations between Kanat Karybai uulu, head of the International Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, and Stephen Goldfinch, head of the Asian Development Bank mission. This event was officially announced by the ministry's press service on January 29.

During this meeting, a new regional technical assistance project initiated by the ADB was presented, aimed at "Enhancing the preparedness of countries in the Asia-Pacific region for sustainable recovery from natural disasters." The implementation of the project is supported by the Asian Disaster Preparedness Center and the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction.

The project covers several countries, including Bangladesh, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, and Timor-Leste. During the discussions, key goals and objectives of the technical assistance were addressed, focusing on institutional readiness for post-disaster recovery, inter-agency coordination, distribution of duties and responsibilities, as well as future steps to enhance national capacity in accordance with international standards.

From January 28 to 29, a kickoff workshop is taking place in Bishkek, dedicated to enhancing Kyrgyzstan's preparedness for sustainable recovery from natural disasters, with the participation of relevant government agencies and international project partners.
