It is also expected that solar power plants with a capacity of 850 MW will be launched.
At a republican meeting, the Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry, Erlis Akunbekov, emphasized the importance of the energy sector.
According to him, Kyrgyzstan is moving to a new level in the development of its energy sector.
As part of this initiative, a number of measures are being implemented aimed at modernizing and expanding the energy infrastructure.
In particular, in 2025, the installed energy supply was increased by 213.6 MW due to the replacement of hydro units at the Toktogul and Uch-Korgon hydropower plants, as well as the commissioning of 8 small hydropower plants with a total capacity of 44.6 MW and a solar power plant in the Kemin district with a capacity of 100 MW.
Additionally, last year, a power transmission line for the CASA-1000 project, connecting Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, was launched.
Currently, work is also ongoing to bring the second unit with a capacity of 120 MW at the Kambar-Ata HPP-2 into operation.
"In 2026, we plan to launch 13 small hydropower plants with a total capacity of 80.6 MW and solar power plants with a capacity of 850 MW," he noted.
