In February 2026, a decrease in prices for meat products by 5.1 percent was recorded in Kyrgyzstan, despite an overall rise in meat prices on the global market. This data was presented in an analysis by the Ministry of Economy and Commerce, which studied the dynamics of consumer prices.

According to the report, the decline in meat prices had an impact on the overall level of inflation, reducing it by 0.7 percentage points.

At the same time, on the international stage, there was an increase in prices at the end of winter 2026. The meat price index, presented by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), rose by 0.8 percent. Notably, there was a significant increase in lamb prices, which reached record levels, while beef prices rose due to high demand from China and the USA. There was also a slight increase in prices for pork and poultry.

Experts from the Ministry of Economy linked the decrease in prices in the domestic market to the introduction of temporary state regulation. These measures were taken to mitigate inflationary pressure on the country's economy.
