The cleaning and repair of the canals was initiated by the Osh mayor's office as part of the demolition of illegal structures. The Kara-Suu District Water Management Department is actively engaged in cleaning the canals and repairing hydraulic structures, as well as removing construction waste that ended up in water bodies during the demolition, reports the Ministry of Agriculture.
Currently, work is being carried out on such canals as Aravan–Ak-Buura, Kairma, Zhany, Zhoobas, Zhekelik, Uvam, Muyan, and "Southern." Excavators, front loaders, trucks, and specialized equipment from both state and private companies are involved in the process.
The deadline for the planned work is set from December 2025 to April 2026, which is 5 months. At the initiative of the mayor of Osh, Jenishbek Toktorbaev, the clearing of the coastal zones of rivers and water bodies is also being carried out during the demolition of illegal structures. These measures are aimed at improving the technical condition of the canals, which have been in unsatisfactory condition for many years, and providing an opportunity for their full operation, as reported by the Ministry of Agriculture.
