In the Issyk-Kul region, a verdict was issued for a participant in a criminal case related to a traffic accident that resulted in the deaths of three people. The accused, Shukhrat [name changed], received a sentence of 9 years in prison, after which the court added 3 years of probation supervision.

Recall that the incident occurred in Karakol on the night of April 6 to 7, 2025, when the vehicles "Toyota Ist" and "Toyota Carina" collided at the intersection of Gebze and Koenkozova streets. Around 01:30, being under the influence of alcohol and without a driver's license, Shukhrat, driving a dark red car, failed to yield and crashed into the silver "Toyota Ist," which led to the tragedy.

According to information provided by the Interior Ministry of the Issyk-Kul region, a criminal case was initiated in connection with the traffic accident, and forensic medical and technical examinations were appointed. The daughter of one of the deceased, N.R., born in 1982, stated that she last saw her mother on April 6, when they were returning from a café with friends and called a taxi.

The woman worked as a laboratory technician at a local hospital. According to her colleague, after leaving the café, they called a taxi for N.R. The day before the tragedy, on April 6, Shukhrat was reportedly with friends drinking alcoholic beverages.

According to the case materials, Shukhrat, while driving on the main street, caused a traffic accident that resulted in the deaths of three people. On July 10, 2025, the Karakol City Court found him guilty under part 4 of article 312 of the Criminal Code ("Violation of traffic safety rules") and part 1 of article 144 of the Criminal Code ("Leaving in danger").

The punishment imposed on him under the first article was 9 years of imprisonment with a ban on driving for 1.5 years. Under the second article, he received a fine of 20,000 soms and was also deprived of the right to drive for the same period. In total, the punishment related to driving amounted to 3 years.

The measure of restraint in the form of detention remained in effect until the verdict entered into legal force. The term of serving the sentence will begin on April 8, 2025. Shukhrat is also required to pay 100,000 soms to each of the victims.

Dissatisfied with the decision, Shukhrat, through his lawyer, filed an appeal with the Issyk-Kul Regional Court. In it, he pointed to the testimonies of witnesses who claimed they could not accurately say whether Shukhrat had consumed alcohol. The defense requested to change the verdict and mitigate the punishment.

At the court hearing, Shukhrat admitted his guilt and reported that he had reached an agreement with the victims for reconciliation, who confirmed that they had forgiven him. Relatives of the deceased and friends were also questioned as witnesses, confirming that at the time of the incident, Shukhrat was under the influence of alcohol.

On October 29, 2025, the Issyk-Kul Regional Court partially granted the appeal, changing the verdict. Shukhrat was released from serving 9 years in prison and placed under probation supervision for 3 years. The measure of restraint was lifted, and he was released in the courtroom. The court noted that the issue of compensation for moral damages would be resolved within the framework of civil proceedings.

The other parts of the verdict remained unchanged. The verdict enters into legal force from the moment of its pronouncement, and each party has the right to appeal it to the Supreme Court.
