The accused is a 60-year-old resident of one of the villages in the Bakai-Ata district, who faced trial for crimes against a minor.
According to the decision of the Bakai-Ata District Court dated October 6, 2025, J.A.S. was found guilty under part 2 of Article 155 of the Criminal Code, which covers "Violent sexual acts." The court sentenced him to 12 years of imprisonment.
However, on December 15, 2025, the Talas Regional Court reviewed this decision. As a result, J.A.S. was found guilty under part 4 of the same article, which pertains to cases where the crime was committed against children under the age of fourteen or individuals with disabilities. Based on part 5 of Article 67 of the Criminal Code, which limits the sentence for men over 55 years old, he was given a final sentence of 11 years and 3 months of imprisonment.
