The Minister of Health and a WHO representative discussed cooperation issues

The Minister of Health Kanybek Dosmambetov met with Liviu Vedrasco, the representative of the World Health Organization in Kyrgyzstan.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Health, during the meeting, the minister emphasized the importance of continuing the strategic partnership with WHO, which has contributed to improving the healthcare system in the country for over 30 years.

During the conversation, the main areas of joint work were discussed, such as the development of primary healthcare, the training of medical personnel, the digitalization of healthcare, preparedness for emergencies, as well as issues related to antimicrobial resistance and mental health. The participants of the meeting noted that WHO's recommendations and technical advice are actively applied in the creation of national programs and regulations in the field of healthcare.

The minister also highlighted the significance of the WHO Cooperation Strategy with Kyrgyzstan for 2024-2030, which will serve as the basis for planning joint activities. He noted that the document should be flexibly adapted according to the changing priorities and tasks of the healthcare system.

Furthermore, the parties paid attention to international and national health initiatives in which Kyrgyzstan intends to actively participate. In this context, the role of WHO in coordinating partners' efforts and disseminating international experience and best practices was emphasized.

As a result of the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness to deepen practical cooperation, maintain regular dialogue, and implement joint projects aimed at improving the efficiency of the healthcare system and enhancing the health level of the population of Kyrgyzstan.
