Deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh Nurgamal Torobekova, representing constituency No. 8, initiated a proposal on February 24 to introduce mandatory medical examinations for couples wishing to register their marriage.

At a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh Committee dealing with labor, health, women's affairs, and social issues, she noted the experience of Uzbekistan, where future spouses are required to undergo testing for HIV and hepatitis.

This innovation will help avoid situations where one partner conceals the presence of infectious diseases from the other. "Currently, it is observed that some young people return from Moscow with infections, and even their parents, knowing about this, do not inform the future brides. As a result, after the wedding, the infection is transmitted to the wife and, consequently, to the child," the deputy explained.

In addition, she proposed to intensify informational work with the population, improve sanitary control considering migration flows, as well as conduct systematic checks of both private and public medical institutions — including dental clinics, beauty salons, endoscopic and gynecological offices. The deputy also suggested expanding the hepatitis B vaccination program to include tourists entering the country.
