A questioning of the leaders of KazTAG took place in Almaty
A criminal case has been initiated against the leaders of the KazTAG news agency.
The General Director Aset Mataev and the Editor-in-Chief Amir Kasenov have become suspects in accordance with a statement from Freedom Finance, which is related to their publications based on the words of citizens who suffered from fraudulent actions by the management of this company, the agency itself reports.
Lawyer Rena Kerimova commented on the situation, noting that "the recognition of Mataev and Kasenov as suspects without their participation is a serious violation. For this to happen, it is necessary for them to evade investigative actions; however, both individuals did not hide."
The editorial team learned about the initiation of the criminal case only on November 20 through the media, although it was registered on August 18. This indicates that the police conducted an investigation for several months without notifying KazTAG and even carried out several expert examinations.
KazTAG has already sent requests, including an audio recording of a conversation with Kakenov, to the embassies of the United States and the European Union in Kazakhstan, as well as to the ARRF, the National Bank, and the Ministry of National Economy of Kazakhstan.
The questioning of Mataev and Kasenov is scheduled for December 9 at the Almaty police department.
