Citizens of Kyrgyzstan are preparing for the elections
Today, a "day of silence" has been declared in Kyrgyzstan. Starting from 8:00 AM on November 29, a ban on any actions related to election campaigning has come into effect.
This "day of silence" will last for 24 hours, ending just before the start of voting on November 30. The main goal of this pause is to give voters the opportunity to make an informed decision without succumbing to external pressure.
On this day, political parties and candidates are prohibited from:
- conducting campaigning in support of or against any candidate or party;
- discussing election platforms;
- publishing new campaign materials.
Additionally, any campaigning actions in the media and on the internet are prohibited. The only exceptions are materials that were published earlier (leaflets, posters, and billboards), which may remain in place if they are located outside the buildings and premises of the electoral commissions.
Violations of the "day of silence" rules will be addressed in accordance with the laws of Kyrgyzstan. This applies to all participants in the electoral process, including political parties, candidates, their representatives, media outlets, and online publications.
It is worth noting that the "day of silence" does not affect the informational activities of the electoral commissions. They continue to inform citizens about the upcoming elections, explain electoral legislation and the voting process, and encourage citizens to participate in the voting.
