
According to Grishechkina, a sharp increase in population could cause serious problems with the city's engineering systems and transportation infrastructure. "If the population exceeds 2.5 million people, it will create enormous difficulties for both networks and roads. It is impractical to relocate everyone to Bishkek — there needs to be balanced development across the country. We plan for the capital's population to remain within 1 million 920 thousand," she noted.
The expert also emphasized that concentrating people in Bishkek without proper development of other regions will only exacerbate existing problems, such as road congestion, outdated communications, and resource shortages. Based on this, the urban planners are focusing on balanced territorial development throughout the country to reduce pressure on the capital.
