Attending the event were Bishkek Mayor Aybek Junushaliev and the Minister of Labor, Social Security, and Migration of Kyrgyzstan Kanat Sagynbaev.
Opening the meeting, the mayor emphasized the need for a systematic approach to ensuring equal rights and creating a comfortable environment for all citizens.
“Today we are here not only to summarize results. We are discussing the problems of people who face serious difficulties every day. Our task is not only to respond to these challenges but also to shape a future in which everyone can feel like a full member of society,” he noted.
According to the mayor, the changes concern not only the social sphere but the city itself. “All road works today are carried out with the needs of people with disabilities in mind. Ramps, tactile elements, special parking spaces, sound traffic lights, 'smart stops,' and accessible routes are already a reality. Bishkek should become a place where people with disabilities feel confidence, freedom, and protection,” he added.
Participants of the meeting were shown a video demonstrating the current initiatives of the mayor's office in the fields of education, sports, and infrastructure for people with special needs.
Also participating in the meeting were representatives of public organizations and experts, including the head of the "New Age" public foundation and mayor's advisor Askar Turdugulov, a specialist working with hearing-impaired individuals Aliya Turdieva, a student of a specialized sports school and world champion in para-arm wrestling Toktosun uulu Bekbosun, as well as the director of the "Oasis" charitable foundation Meerim Osmonalieva.
The speakers shared their initiatives to improve the accessibility of the urban environment, identified pressing issues, and proposed solutions. As a result of the discussion, recommendations for further action were developed.
The event concluded with an exhibition of creative works by children with disabilities, organized for the meeting participants.
