A Business Council on Children's Issues Established in Kyrgyzstan
The first composition of the council includes international business organizations and a number of companies, highlighting the importance of private sector participation in this area.
Askar Sydykov, Executive Director of the MDS, noted that the active involvement of businesses in the Council demonstrates their social responsibility and readiness to develop long-term solutions in the interests of children and families in Kyrgyzstan, as well as an understanding of the need to fulfill the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Support for UNICEF initiatives is significant not only for children in Kyrgyzstan but also on a global level. The organization is a leading global expert in child rights protection, and collaboration with businesses enhances the effectiveness of programs in areas such as education, healthcare, and child protection in crisis situations.
Samman Tapa, UNICEF representative in Kyrgyzstan, emphasized that businesses shape the environment in which children grow, from the working conditions of their parents to access to essential products and information. He expressed joy over the active participation of companies in promoting children's rights and creating opportunities for their development.
Entrepreneurs in Kyrgyzstan recognize that investing in children is the foundation for building human capital and strengthening the country's economy. They can start by improving conditions for their employees with children, supporting educational initiatives, and creating a safe environment for children.
According to the head of the MDS, the establishment of the Business Council provides a unique opportunity to unite the efforts of key partners, including businesses, government structures, and international organizations. They now have a common platform for collaboration for the benefit of every child in the country.
The Business Advisory Council will become an important tool for sharing knowledge and best practices, raising awareness in the private sector about children's rights and promoting their protection. It will also provide an opportunity to better understand how companies' activities impact children and encourage them to make decisions aimed at protecting children's rights.
