Meat without intermediaries and honey to Europe: Torobayev inspected the fair
Bakyt Torobayev, who holds the position of Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry, visited a farmers' fair held at the Turdakun Usubaliev Square in Bishkek. During the visit, he not only familiarized himself with the presented assortment but also identified pressing issues faced by domestic producers.

The minister paid attention to each sector as he walked past the trading rows. In a conversation with beekeepers, he inquired about their readiness for new export opportunities, reminding them that Kyrgyzstan now has the right to sell honey to European Union countries. Additionally, in a discussion with a farmer from Batken, who brought dried fruits to the capital at affordable prices, Torobayev discussed opportunities for deep processing, asking what resources are needed to produce natural pastila in remote regions.

The fair paid special attention to prices for meat products. Beef and lamb were sold here at prices ranging from 600 to 680 soms per kilogram. In an interview with the media, Bakyt Torobayev emphasized the importance of such fairs as a tool for stabilizing the domestic market.

He explained: "Fairs create a direct link between the producer and the buyer, eliminating intermediaries and, consequently, unnecessary markups. This allows us to effectively control price increases."

Torobayev also stressed that the fair is not an ordinary market with chaotic pricing. "Here, the buyer receives goods at production prices, which include only the cost price and logistics. We strive to give farmers the opportunity to earn, while allowing city dwellers to save," he added.

Directly from the event, the minister conducted a video call with other regions to check how similar fairs were proceeding across the country. As a result of the monitoring, clear instructions were given to the heads of territorial divisions: ensure price stability, improve conditions at the venues, and create a comfortable atmosphere for buyers.

However, the fight for affordable meat is not limited to just fairs. Torobayev announced plans to launch mobile meat shops and open a specialized retail outlet in Naryn. Work is also underway to allocate additional land for the feed base for livestock breeders to support the development of meat sheep farming.

Support for domestic producers and price control on socially important goods remain priorities for the Ministry of Agriculture. As Torobayev noted, only through direct dialogue with farmers and the elimination of unnecessary links in the trade chain can affordable and quality products be provided to the people of Kyrgyzstan.
