Starting from March 1, 2026, the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan will introduce a temporary six-month ban on the import of seedlings of fruit and berry plants from countries that are not members of the EAEU. The resolution, signed by Adylbek Kasymaliev, aims to ensure food security and improve the efficiency of the agricultural sector.

The restriction will apply to seedlings coming from third countries, except for those varieties specified in the annex to the resolution.

It is important to note that this restriction does not affect supplies from the member countries of the Eurasian Economic Union, which are carried out within the framework of mutual trade. In addition, the transit of seedlings through the territory of Kyrgyzstan to other countries will also remain permitted.

The Ministry of Economy and Commerce has been tasked with notifying the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the Eurasian Economic Commission about the introduction of these protective measures. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs must inform the Executive Committee of the CIS. Additionally, the customs service and the Ministry of Agriculture have been empowered to prevent any attempts at illegal importation of planting material.
