In Kyrgyzstan, 1.25 million hectares of land will be sown for the 2026 harvest


In Kyrgyzstan, the start of spring fieldwork has been announced. According to the press service of the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic, by March 12, 2026, it is planned to sow 1.25 million hectares of agricultural crops. Of this area, 818 thousand hectares are irrigated lands, while 432 thousand hectares are rainfed areas. Currently, active work is being carried out in the southern regions, including the Osh, Jalal-Abad, and Batken regions, as well as in the Chui Valley. At the same time, work has not yet started in the Talas, Naryn, and Issyk-Kul regions.

According to the latest data from the ministry, 32.6 thousand hectares of spring cereals have already been sown. In terms of crops, wheat has been allocated 11.4 thousand hectares, with the largest areas located in the Osh (5.7 thousand hectares) and Jalal-Abad (2.5 thousand hectares) regions. Barley occupies 13.5 thousand hectares, of which 6.3 thousand hectares are located in the Chui region. In the southern regions, potato planting is also actively taking place, with 2.4 thousand hectares already cultivated, of which 1.7 thousand hectares are in the Osh region. Additionally, work has begun in the Osh region for the sowing of vegetable crops. The ministry continues to monitor the process in various regions of the country.
