In Kyrgyzstan, 95% of medications are imported. This was stated in an interview with the Kabar agency by Talant Sultanov, the director of the state enterprise "Kyrgyzpharmacy." According to him, 30-40% of these supplies come directly from global manufacturers, while the rest go through distributors.
Sultanov emphasized that previously each of the approximately 300 hospitals in the country purchased medicines independently, which led to significant price differences for the same drugs. For example, the same medication could cost differently in Batken and other regions. Moreover, in remote areas, medicines sometimes did not reach at all. To address these issues, "Kyrgyzpharmacy" was established two and a half years ago. Currently, the enterprise is establishing direct connections with leading pharmaceutical companies worldwide, which has resulted in a significant reduction in prices. According to Sultanov, the cost of medications is now 4-5 times lower than before.
