The closure of border crossings with Belarus was caused by incidents of balloons with smuggled goods entering Lithuanian territory, as reported by DW agency.
The Lithuanian government has confirmed that the decision to resume the operation of border checkpoints has already been made, although specific dates have not yet been specified.
On November 19, Wednesday, the authorities of Vilnius announced their intention to open border crossings with Belarus. It is worth noting that they were closed due to incidents of smuggling entering Lithuanian territory. From Thursday, November 20, the crossings will be operational again.
Earlier, last month, Lithuania reported that two border crossings would remain closed until the end of November in response to the launches of meteorological balloons from the Belarusian side, which disrupted air transport operations and led to the closure of Vilnius Airport.
