She reported that the mother of the accused had approached her, expressing concern about the progress of the investigation. According to Surabaldiyeva, the applicant claims that investigative actions are being carried out, but the defense is not receiving any information.
The MP noted that there are many opinions in society, including the view that those accused of large-scale embezzlement may remain free, while people without support find themselves in a much more difficult situation. In this regard, she requested information on the case and clarification of what had happened.
In response, Deputy Attorney General Umutkan Konkubayeva stated that the MP would be provided with separate information on the case. She emphasized that the principle of confidentiality is in effect during the investigation and must be adhered to.
Konkubayeva also added that the prosecutor's office would take into account the circumstances raised by the MP and is monitoring the investigation.
The name of the ex-mayor was not mentioned by the MP. It is worth recalling that the October District Court previously sentenced Maxat Nusuvaliyev, the former mayor of Tokmok, to 13 years in prison.
