Nurgazy Nishanov, who previously held the position of deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh and headed OJSC "Kyrgyzneftegaz," as well as the director of the company "Region Oil," Nazgul Aydarova, were placed in the temporary detention facility after interrogation.
According to sources in the law enforcement agencies, the detention is part of an investigation into a criminal case related to corrupt activities.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs previously reported the initiation of a case under Article 336 (Corruption) of the Criminal Code of Kyrgyzstan, which involves possible violations in the operations of OJSC "Kyrgyzneftegaz."
The basis for the investigation was video materials published by the State Tax Service titled "Oil for Themselves: How 'Kyrgyzneftegaz' Was Ruined," which discusses possible illegal actions by officials of the enterprise.
