The police detained a 30-year-old man from the Issyk-Ata district
According to information from the press service of the Main Department of Traffic Safety, a truck driver suspected of being involved in a fatal accident in the Chui region was detained after fleeing the scene.
Law enforcement agencies reported that on January 1, 2026, at 00:58, a report was received at the Issyk-Ata District Police Department about a collision with a cyclist on the Bishkek–Torugart highway.
It was established that around 00:50, a 16-year-old resident of the village of Dmitrievka, N.A., was riding his bicycle towards the city of Kant along the edge of the road when he was struck by a red truck that veered into his lane while overtaking. The teenager died at the scene from his injuries.
A criminal case was initiated under Article 312 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic — "Violation of traffic safety rules and operation of vehicles."
The law enforcement officers identified that the collision was caused by a red SHACMAN truck. The driver was R.B., a 30-year-old resident of the village of Krasnaya-Rechka. He was detained and placed in a temporary detention facility.
