At the international conference "Water, Mountains, and Glaciers of the Kyrgyz Republic, Sustainable Future," Deputy Minister of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision Almaz Musaev emphasized the importance of water management for Kyrgyzstan.

He also noted that the country's biodiversity represents a unique and valuable wealth that requires proper protection and management.

“The mountains of Kyrgyzstan play a key role in ensuring the security of both our country and all of Central Asia. In 2024, a law was adopted that recognized glaciers as protected natural areas. This historic decision strengthens the ecological security and water resources of our country, setting an example for the entire region. Currently, we are actively working on the creation of new protected areas in the Batken, Osh, and Naryn regions, including the natural parks 'Arpa,' 'Alai,' and 'Arhar,'” he reported.

According to the deputy minister, this will allow for an increase in the area of protected territories and create more favorable conditions for the conservation of water resources in the country.
