The Ministry of Natural Resources and the UN Discussed the Results of Cooperation in 2025 on Climate and Ecology

On February 26, consultations were held at the Ministry of Natural Resources dedicated to the results of the implementation of the UN Framework Program for Sustainable Development within the priority area III — "Climate, Environment, Energy, and Disaster Risk Management."

According to the information from the department's press service, the event was attended by Deputy Minister of Culture Asel Raimkulova, UN Resident Coordinator in Kyrgyzstan Antje Grave, UNDP Resident Representative in the country Alexandra Solovieva, FAO representative Oleg Guchgeldiev, UN Women representative Sayed Sadik, as well as the Country Director of the World Food Programme Kojiro Nakai.

Participants of the meeting discussed the achievements of joint work for 2025 aimed at improving the climate resilience of the country, optimizing natural resource management, and strengthening disaster warning and response systems. Additionally, the main strategic priorities for 2026-2027 were identified.

During the discussion, significant work carried out in 2025 to enhance Kyrgyzstan's adaptive capacity to the impacts of climate change, develop risk management mechanisms, and expand intersectoral partnerships involving government bodies, international organizations, and the private sector was noted.

Attention was also drawn to the need to align climate and environmental priorities with the National Development Program of Kyrgyzstan until 2030 to achieve specific and measurable results that contribute to improving the well-being of the population and the sustainable development of the country's regions.
