Sadyr Japarov launched the first solar power plant in Kyrgyzstan

At the solemn ceremony held in the Kemin district of the Chui region, the president announced that the power plant has a capacity of 100 megawatts. According to the president's press service, this event marks an important step in the development of solar energy in Kyrgyzstan.
According to the statement, this station will produce about 210 million kWh of clean electricity annually, which will lead to a reduction in carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 120,000 tons. The investment in the project amounted to 56 million US dollars, making it one of the most significant in this field in the republic.

In his address to those present, the president emphasized that the development of alternative energy sources is a strategic goal for the country and an important step towards energy independence. He noted that the energy sector plays a key role in such industries as manufacturing, agriculture, and mining.

Japarov also reported on significant achievements in the energy sector, including the modernization of four units of the Toktogul Hydroelectric Power Station, which has increased its capacity from 1200 to 1440 megawatts. This year, several small hydropower stations have been launched in the Issyk-Kul, Chui, Batken, and Jalal-Abad regions, and design work continues on the construction of new facilities.

In addition to hydropower, pilot projects in solar energy have been implemented in the country over the past two years, as noted by the president. He added that to ensure stable electricity supply for the population and the economy, it is necessary to actively develop renewable energy sources.

The head of state emphasized the importance of creating favorable conditions for investors, forming a stable regulatory framework, and simplifying the permitting process. He noted that the private sector is the main source of investment and technology, as well as a strategic partner in implementing energy initiatives.

According to information, 12 agreements have been signed between the government and investors for the construction of solar and wind power plants with a total capacity of over 5 gigawatts.

Commenting on the significance of the new solar project, President Japarov stated that the volume of electricity produced annually will be able to meet the needs of one district without additional strain on the infrastructure, and will also contribute to increased tax revenues and the creation of new jobs.

In conclusion of the event, the president thanked the investors and specialists who participated in the implementation of this project, highlighting the importance of transitioning to sustainable and clean energy sources. After the ceremony, he visited the technical facilities of the station and spoke with local residents, who raised a number of social issues and expressed gratitude to the head of state for his attention to the region.
