At the IV People's Kurultai, President Sadyr Japarov noted that when he took office, the number of citizens in need of hemodialysis was only 2 thousand.
He emphasized that at that time, patients were forced to pay half the cost of the procedure out of their own pockets.
“Thus, they spent their earned money on hemodialysis. Now this procedure is fully funded by the state. Currently, the number of patients has increased to 4 thousand, which requires expenses of 4.5 billion soms. To reduce these costs, we opened two Kidney Transplant Centers, but in the last two years, only 37 people have undergone surgery,” added Sadyr Japarov.
The president also announced plans to amend the legislation to allow kidney donations not only from close relatives but also from more distant relatives.
