The meeting that took place on Saturday, January 31, in Miami was characterized by Witkoff as "productive and constructive." The Russian side was represented by special envoy Kirill Dmitriev, with whom steps aimed at advancing the peace process in Ukraine were discussed. Witkoff published this information on the social network X.

The American delegation included Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, son-in-law of former President Donald Trump Jared Kushner, and senior White House advisor Josh Grünbaum.

Witkoff expressed optimism about the results of the meeting, noting that Russia is showing a willingness for peace in Ukraine, and thanked the President of the United States for his important role in achieving stable and long-term peace.

Earlier, the first trilateral negotiations took place in Abu Dhabi between representatives of Russia, Ukraine, and the United States. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky positively assessed the results of this meeting and reported that the delegations would meet again on February 1.

The U.S. Secretary of State added that the Washington delegation would also be present at the negotiations on February 1 between the Ukrainian and Russian sides, although Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are unlikely to participate.
