At Issyk-Kul, an Orthodox church was robbed, two suspects detained

In the village of Ak-Suu in the Issyk-Kul region, an incident occurred at an Orthodox church, where money, gold and silver jewelry, as well as gifts were stolen on the night of January 5 to 6. Local residents reported the incident.

The criminals not only robbed the church but also caused damage, burning the New Year's tree, spilling oil on the floor, and damaging property.

According to the Interior Ministry of the Issyk-Kul region, a report of the theft was filed at the Ak-Suu District Police Department on January 6. An inspection of the crime scene revealed that the entrance lock had been broken, two donation boxes were smashed, and money was stolen from the cash registers, along with silver jewelry, crosses, gift bags, and a Wi-Fi router. The criminals also broke the windows of two parked cars and took items from their interiors.

In connection with this incident, a criminal case has been initiated under the article "Theft." Thanks to recordings from surveillance cameras, the identities of the suspects were established: they turned out to be a teenager born in 2010 and a man born in 2003, who had a previous criminal record.

Both suspects have been detained and placed in a temporary detention facility. The investigation is ongoing.
